BIO:  Paul Clayton has held management roles since 1991, and joined the tertiary sector in the UK in 2003, with the University of Plymouth Students’ Union. After emigrating to Australia, Paul joined UQ Sport in 2011 to help rebuild the team and facilities after the floods, enjoying seven years in various roles in operations and facilities management. This was followed by three years at the QUT Guild, helping develop the governance and funding structures of the organisation. During his work in the Universities, Paul lectured at UQ in addition to acting as a Director of TAG, leaving as Chair. After a short break working for himself, Paul rejoined the sector in February 2023 after being successfully recruited as the new GM of SEN where he is loving working to develop the organisation into a new era of success for the membership.

SESSION OVERVIEW: One of the key findings of the Accord process to date is the need for student services to support students to increase success rates and reduce attrition.

Specifically, the report is asking institutions to provide a specific suite of integrated student support services but also asks that these services meet specific delivery requirements (i.e. personalisation, tracking, reporting, scalability, etc.). This subtle combination of integrated services and delivery mechanisms will require a sophisticated and modern student support ecosystem. Many institutions will need to immediately begin integrating their student support services, technology and teams to modernised integrated support ecosystem approaches.

By sharing an update on current SENPRO developments and new opportunities planned, the team aims to educate all members on how to give the Uni quantifiable data showing they are making a positive impact. It’s not going to be enough to just report that “We ran x number of events”.
