Trauma Informed Practice Training

  • February 14, 2024
  • Com 0

Student Experience Network is offering trauma informed practice training for members. The training will be conducted online by registered Psychologist Shona Sim, over 2 days – Thurs 11th and Fri 12th April (10am – 4pm AEST).

The training will cover the following:

  • The impact of developmental trauma on brain development and how this can continue to impact as an adult
  • The effects of traumatic stress on the brain (and what happens when trauma causes parts of the brain to go offline)
  • Trauma and memory, physical responses, emotion, sense of self and other long-term impacts (and how this can present when interacting with systems and education)
  • Responding to someone who is experiencing traumatic stress
  • What is trauma-informed practice and how do you implement it as Advocates
  • Self-care in responding to people experiencing trauma (maybe developing a self-care plan here?)
  • When and where to refer someone for more intensive support

Cost of the training will be $300 + GST per participant. Both day sessions will be recorded, so we are able to offer those who can only attend for part of either day the option to watch the recordings to cover what they miss. This will still be at the same cost per participant.
